Pool Closing

Blue Water Pools Provides:

  • Removal of handrails and ladders.
  • Blowing out return lines, skimmer lines, heater, pump & filter.
  • Removal of return fitting and installation of all return plugs after all water has been blown out.
  • Removal of pump plugs, filter pressure gauges.
  • Antifreeze will be added to skimmer lines, return lines, heater and filter.

Customers responsiblities:

  • The day before the closing, lower the pool water as follows:
    • Safety mesh & waterbag covers: Lower water 1-4" below return face plates.
    • Auto covers: Lower water 2" below skimmer face plates.
    • *NOTE: A $75 service surcharge will be assessed if water level is not lowered upon our arrival.
  • Once the water has been lowered, leave the pump running on the main drain with the filter in the re-circulate position.
  • Add closing chemicals the day before closing after the water level has been adjusted.
  • Please place all plugs, skimmer blow out tubes (gizzmos), & covers on pool deck.
  • We DO NOT remove pool lights. It is recommended by the manufacturer that they are left in for maximum longevity.
  • Please check to make sure your outdoor outlets have power.

Because of Minnesota’s heavy winter snow load, Blue Water Pools and Spas, Inc. is not responsible for any damage to your swimming pool or automatic cover that might occur if your automatic cover is also used as a winter cover.
